I've never seen tents at LGW in the years I've been there. And I can assure you we most definitely have provided hotel accommodation for weather delays. Ask any of the hundreds of JER pax recently inconvenienced because of fog in JER which prevented any airline from operating to the island.

We've had a number of issues recently with delayed or cancelled flights, including weather issues, and all passengers have been accommodated and/or rebooked in a reasonable time. It may not be the 5 minutes some people hope for, but disruption is just that ..... disruption to the normal day's schedule. When it happens extra staff don't automatically appear out of thin air so the staff on duty go above and beyond to get things sorted for the passenger.
I would agree with you and there was no intent to knock BA, it is. A factor life tha disruption occurs and my point was that excellent insurance and patience are key.

I will keep flying BA but my expectation, based on experience, is that I need to be prepared.
