Well then I encountered the stupidity of banks. When I went to use the card it was declined because I was passed due on the annual fee (I had no other charges on the card). Their policy is that I can't use the card unless I pay the annual fee even though they will reimburse me later (after I make the 5 purchases). I guess I find that pretty stupid and called back today and after being transferred several times I canceled the card.
Personally I don't see why I should have to prepay the fee with the promise of them eventually reimbursing me for it down the road. Sadly I've learned promises are often forgotten or modified unless they are written down.

Have you NOT listened the Ts and Cs read to you by the retention rep over the phone, that you MUST pay the annual fee and not have a past due on your account even though eventually you would have a statement credit posted after you fulfill the requirement?
It is VERY CLEARLY told that you are on a recording line and you MUST say Yes or No after the conditions read to you to show you UNDERSTAND and ACCEPT the conditions.
I dont know who is the stupid party here.
You have no case to complain because you were on the recording line and you must Clearly Accept the Terms and Conditions of the Offer by Saying YES before the offer kicks in. And yet you ignore the requirement then complain about the bank?
