Don't be so quick to bash.... I've stayed at the Candlewood Suites on 39th St. (in one of Gene Kaufman's three-packs) and at the Staybridge Suites on 40th St. (in another of Kaufman's three-packs), a few times each, usually on points. The redemption value, even under the new, higher points redemption, is excellent. For example, new redemption for Candlewood is 20,000 points/night (formerly 15,000), times $0.006/point (value using points & cash redemption) = $120 per night incl. tax. Hard to beat in Manhattan.
I'm not necessarily ascribing all that to the architect himself, but the fact that he gets the biggest bang for the amount of space probably helps. @:-)
