That's the conclusion I reached as well, but I was hoping to have missed something.

Minneapolis is such an easy drive from Kansas City that I need to consider having him drive. I'm driving up a few days earlier, and we were hoping to have him fly oneway and then drive back with me and the kids. $388 vs driving separately...I think he'll probably need to drive!
