Hello, I wanted to ask if anyone has experience with compensation from Qatar airways after long flight delay via the EU261/2004 regulation?
I was booked on Economy Hong Kong to Brussels via Doha (return leg of my trip). Because of one of QR's plane being diverted to guangzhou due to extreme HKG airport weather, we were waiting at hong kong airport for 8+ hours. Originally scheduled to depart 18:50, we ended up taking off 3:20am (a meal voucher was provided by QR)
Also after we took off, we had to make a landing in Bangladesh before finally arriving to Doha, for "operational reasons".
This whole delay resulted to me missing my connection from Doha to Brussels, and being booked on the same flight 24 hrs later. so first I had 8+ hours delay at the airport, and now another 24 hrs delay in Doha.
Even though Qatar provided hotel/meal voucher for my stay in Doha, I was wondering if I can get compensation in cash as per the EU 261/2004 regulation, since my flight originated in Brussels. The reason is that I had to be in Brussels today to attend a meeting and I won't be able to reschedule.
Am I reading the rules right and do i have a claim?
