I am hoping to ship a number of boxes across country using Amtrak Express.

According to Amtrak policy, it looks like they don't permit electronics and appliances. I understand this is probably because the boxes are handled roughly, and they do not want the liability. I would very much like to send some appliances, which I do not care about a whole lot, so if they get damaged, oh well.

However, I wanted to know if Amtrak will open my boxes to check the contents.

Does anyone have experience using Amtrak Express who can shed light on this?
