I disagree. If some hypothetical passenger hits 500,000 miles, he would certainly deserve to be treated better than a DM. It makes sense to have a tier for the absolute best of the best customers (think BA Premier).
Aside from UG priority, how is DL going to figure out how to treat 50 different tiers of Elite level differently? You can only have so many separate VIP phone lines, or boarding zones so people are allowed on the plane in order of privileged? "Now boarding zone 24 and a half. This includes all Topaz, Cubic Zirconia, and Calcium Encrusted Quartz Elites"
