The bigger boys, meaning chase, amex, etc, must have some pull to do more immediate action as well. Though not chase in my example, but not entirely different, I've had two occasions with amex where; 1. The vendor charged a tax that was not applicable and not on the final agreed charge submission but showed up afterward and 2. whereas this p.o.s. company called lollihop pulled a bait and switch and did not fulfill the correct orders, then said they were closing shop and would refund any balances which they did not do for months until it got heated. (Happily that company is no longer, but a lot of people got screwed by them and that company chose to remove any customer complaints and criticism from their facebook page).
Both instances, amex said we will credit the account (prg and plat) immediately without any further action or wait on my end. No investigation was mentioned.
Amex claimed each time they have an agreement with that vendor and so had the ability to do so. I did not have to worry about doing anything else and the credit was there immediately.
While these are the only two disputes I've had in 15-20 years, I am actually amazed how some of the banks do not require a wait to see what response is provided from a chargeback notice.
