Simply regard it as a little trashy, cheap and nasty. I found Rico amusing, but can easily see why he'd be a massive turnoff for some. I recognise attention seeking is the first rule of marketing, as extremely annoying repetitive musical ads attest to, people hate them, but if they are talked about, it's considered a "win".
