? regarding fare drop

Hello, I come to FT for clarification on an issue I just had, that has left me confused. I already searched for my answer, but it was not covered, or at least my particular situation.

About a month ago I booked a y/up fare (A & I codes) for two, total price was almost $1800. Yesterday I noticed that the same identical itinerary and fare code (A & I) dropped to $1232, a little over $500 difference. I called the EXP desk, they agreed with me regarding the fare drop and even after with the $300 ($150 per ticket) change fee, I was still going to get around $111 per ticket ($222 total). The difference was going to be refunded back to my credit card. I agreed with it and asked the agent to proceed accordingly with the re-ticketing.

Later in the day I get the confirmation email and see that my new ticket is now priced at $1508.80 Shouldn't it be $1232, as that was/is the lower fee that prompted me to call in the first place? Even with the $300 change fee, that will be $1532, somehow it doesn't add up to me. In FT fashion, I called EXP desk again, actually 2x times already, and both agents do not see that the ticket priced at 1232 when I called on Sunday. They do see that currently the identical itinerary is pricing at 1232, but the difference is less than the change fee if I where to re-ticket it. I explained that when I called on Sunday, the price was 1232, why do I want to re-ticket it a second time, when it should have been done from the beginning when I called, but somehow the agents I spoke with do not see it that way. In my defense, I do have an email from a dummy reservation for 2 two that I did on Sunday to back up my claim of identical itinerary and fare codes.

At the moment, the credit back to my card is still on pending. The only thing I can think of, and this is where I need your help, is that my current ticket price has the change fee included minus some tax/fee differential deducted, yes/no? As the agents I spoke with do not say that.

Could someone that has done this before shed some light. Thanks for your help.
