I find it a little shocking that there has been, by all accounts, a serious incident and yet it still seems okay to some to ignore the briefing. How on Earth can they talk about manic crew instructions when they clearly don't value the one thing that every passenger can do to minimise their chances of injury and maximise their chances of survival.

Inccidents like these should serve as a warning to everyone, even those who travel frequently.
I was on an IB flight at the weekend and the safety demonstration was watched in the first two rows of Business by me and no one else. I had a sneaky peak at the others in the cabin when the Spanish version of one of the longer segments was being played and everyone else I could see was reading a paper.
