MSPeconomist makes a really good point: someone in your company might expect your rate to be tax-free. You might have some splainin' to do if your room-hopping eliminates a long-term rate or tax savings.


If not, then do you have a spouse or anyone else staying with you for part of the trip? You could arrange for your reservation to end, for the other person to check in for 1 or 2 nights, and then for you to resume a new stay after that... obviously, you want to request to keep the same room.

- This way, you won't have to move luggage.
- The other person will earn points for those 1 or 2 nights.
- Confirm with front desk you can do this...
