I would like to go with my wife to LA this summer from NYC for 5 days. I would like to fly first class as this will be our first vacation in a long time and we have mileage saved up for it.
When I looked in July and August for availability for 2 tickets in First Class, only a few select weekend days showed up but nothing really for the Thursday red-eye I plan on taking back with her. However, when I searched just for 1 ticket, there was availability for basically any day I wanted. My guess is that AA caps the award availability of a first class seat at 1 for these flights and that is why I am having an issue for 2 seats.
Therefore, I turn to you to ask if: 1) There is a work around for such an issue? 2) Will AA open up more seats as it gets closer to the date assuming no one books them? 3) Is it best to wait, book Business instead, call? What is the best course of action?
Any and all help and advice is greatly appreciated and welcomed. Thank you in advance.
Do what most of us are doing, book one seat in first, one seat in business, and hope to move up if and when another seat in first opens up. At least you will be on the same plane. That's what I did for my 2 tickets to Madrid-one of us is business RT the other econ RT. But I will have my BIS for the J ticket as I do all the travel planning and use my miles for the tickets.
