Internationally it can be a huge difference. The cheapest one-ways from the UK to the US that I can find on DL are M fares. (Yay for moving back to the US this summer and someone else buying me an M fare that I can SWU!) A r/t booked into T is a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the one-way M. A lot of international fares still have Saturday night stay requirements, too.
