I did the UD on the new 747 on the LAX-NRT route. If you are flying with your kids, I would suggest the lower deck and the 1-2-1 seating. At least that way, one of you can be with your 4-yr old on the "2" seating configuration downstairs and that way your 3 seats can be in the same row too.
