good...
Found myself in Embra at the weekend with my elderly mother and was about to book dinner here only to notice that they rather haughtily suggested that we had a whole 90 minutes to eat dinner and scoot, so needless to say they didn't get our business.
Currently on the list to get to ...... the place on Picardy place
I'm assuming you are talking about Mark Greenaway's restaurant, which on the other hand did get our business and I thought this was some of the best cooking I have ever had in Edinburgh. I started with the crab cannelloni which looked pretty familiar when it arrived on the table at which point I realised that I'd been watching Mark cook more or less the same dish on TV last week (at which point, I actually realised who he was......). Mains were fantastic, as were the puddings. My only slight fault would be the wine list, which was a little thin. I had a perfectly decent bottle of white burgundy which at GBP32 was at the very top end of the price list. As I say, perfectly decent, but I'd have liked the option of something a little "nicer". Overall price for the two of us including said bottle of wine was a little over GBP100 which seemed very reasonable, though I've recently moved to Switzerland so by comparison,
everywhere else seems reasonable....
