Call again and see if you get someone else; ask to speak to a supervisor, etc and try and get it resolved on the phone. The fact that you both signed up within minutes of each other is good common sense evidence working for you. If you have to submit to their 2 week process, then you may have to just wait on that and see what happens...

This is why a lot of people here take screenshots at every step of the process.
