US clearly announces the ability to redeem on partners, including by displaying the partner award chart.
If US for some reason is to blame, by poor IT, any kind of negligence, they are up for a nasty surprise.
If LH is to blame, it will still be nasty, as US must certainly know, and has faile to update their marketing
There are about a million other wonderful redemptions aside from LH/LX F. You bought miles, not tickets. With that there is always a risk. If you only wanted to fly LX/LH you should have put the tickets you wanted on hold and then bought the miles. Once you had done that you could book your award reservation without fear of loosing your precious first class.
I completely agree that it sucks, but this is not something you sue US over!
