Heading to NCE next week and want to upgrade 2 pax with eGUVs. Called yesterday and only 1 biz seat is available (this tallies with ANA). I was offered to upgrade 1 pax and waitlist the other. If I want to upgrade both pax that is the only way to do it apparently. I can’t put both pax on the waitlist.

The issue is that I was told that if I upgrade 1 pax and the other doesn’t clear then I can’t downgrade again. My friend is a bit of a nervous traveller so I don’t want to leave him on his own (even if it is in biz). From experience what are the chances of the upgrade clearing (they are still selling business saver on the flight) and if it doesn’t work is there something I can do at check in to ensure we sit together (in either cabin?)
