My suggestions.

Highlands Inn - Carmel area to walk around - no club lounge however,
PH Aviara - haven't been but should be quite nice - north of San Diego
HR Scottsdale - Scottsdale/Phoenix
HR Tamaya - nice property - there is horseback riding that can be had on property (for a fee) - nothing around the property though.
