The only situation I can think of is if you have several low-amount accounts that you want to combine to get a reward ticket. But in that case, wouldn't it make a lot more sense to just create an HHA between you?
I've used it before and will use it again. Eg I wanted to get a Y return award ticket for my friend to join me in LAS last xmas (late booking and ex-BUD - revenue ticket was v expensive). I could only find the inbound - but my friend who is a GCH could get the outbound as GCH get better availability. I transferred the miles to him to book.
Will probably transfer some miles from my mother for our 2-4-1 to the East Coast this xmas. Don't want to set up an HHA as I often use avios for friends.
