Best situation...the hotel didn't sell out, we exceeded our room block & got additional benefits (usually a percentage of the room price or a comped hotel night for every XXX paid hotel rooms).
The reality is for me that when our room block doesn't fill adequately it's because our room rate is higher than surrounding competitors. And when that is the case it's highly unlikely that someone from outside of the meeting would to reserve a room in our block.
