I'm arriving in F on TG at 0720 and then flying on to MEL. My preferred flight would be QF421 at 0930. Would that be possible? Alternatively, I could take JQ29 at 1005 (which leaves from the International terminal but has no meal/luggage/FF points) or QF435 at 1300 (which involves a long wait).
On the return, I leave on TG in F at 1000. Would QF404 from MEL (0630-0755) allow me to make the TG flight, or do I need to take QF400 at 0600 instead? Or do I really need to be in SYD the night before?
FWIW, I think this whole terminal-changing business is nuts. I can't believe the people in Sydney haven't led a full-scale revolt.
Will this be separate tickets or all in one ticket? QF will not interline to non-
oneworld airlines if on separate tickets.
IME for the SYD-MEL flight QF has always been flexible in changing flights even if on separate bookings^
You have a bigger issue on your return but IMO you should be safe on QF404 but I would try QF400 for my own level of risk.
Oh IMO the transfers have never been an issue for me, even for delayed Dom-Int flights QF have held the transfer bus for connecting pax, I asked at the transfer desk and they said that there were 18 pax transferring from my delayed flight to the international flight and the bus will be held for them.
