Finally got my first Delta Amex card (in Japan, haven't lived in the U.S. since 2008). It came about a week ago, and I called to activate it the night I got it.

My question (since I'm new to these cards): How long does it take generally before you see any of the benefits kick in (bonus miles, upgrade to next medallion level, etc.)? Is it normal that my Delta account still hasn't changed at all in terms of miles or medallion status?
