What if the people ahead of them were also observant Jews who were in the same situation? Wouldn't it be an epic violation of privacy to put, say "JEW/1" and "JEW/2" on the standby list so people could see that these people would not be able to fly for the next roughly 24 hours? Aren't the people ahead of them on the list in the same boat of having been there all day? I'm guessing these may have been no status people, so even on a standby that AA didn't "have" to do, they would have continuously fallen behind all status standby passengers as well. Alas, this is the society we live in. Get to the airport early. TSA shenanigans can happen to anyone.
