How to Ensure Your Room Key Is Not Given to Stranger?
FI, Asheboro NC, checked in at 6:00 pm. Sitting in room waiting for dinner to arrive, so the door was not bolted, and suddenly a very nice gentleman and his son were walking into my room, having been given the key and assigned the room when they checked in at 7:30 pm.
How does this happen and what steps can someone take to make sure it doesn't happen again? This is my fourth time experiencing this. (McAllen Ren someone else walked in on me and I was the person given the key to an occuppied room at the GSO Airport FS and GSO FS.) My biggest fear is that this will happen when I'm not in the room and someone will help themselves to whatever they want.
Now that this has happened a fourth time, I've got to believe it's not that unusual. Does anyone know what steps MI takes to ensure this doesn't happen or what I can do or say at check-in to make sure this doesn't happen? Bolting the room is not an option when you're gone. While I don't keep valuable in the room, I do keep things that are important for me to do my job.
Any advice?
