I'm having a hard time imagining that 3 evenings of babysitting would be more expensive than a plane ticket for grandma. (Are babysitters more than $20/hr in Manhattan?)
Maybe think instead of how your daughter's life is going to change come fall, and help her build a relationship with Grandma now, as a way to help her cope with no longer being an only child? Give her a chance to bond with a loving family member (making assumptions about Grandma here, I admit) so that she has that connection (phone, Skype, etc.) to help her feel special when your attention is on the new baby?

Plus, Manhattan weather in summer can be miserable, and if you are significantly PG then, you may not be at your peak of child chasing.
