For the people for whom low cost is paramount, the issue of whether or not the flight is a nonstop is unimportant. What's most important is the cheapest fare - So if JetBlue can compete on fare then it doesn't matter to the Kettles whether or not they have to connect at BOS or JFK. Look at Expedia or Travelocity - From Canada, the lowest-priced option to the USA almost always involves a connection, and sometimes two (at least out of YVR, not sure about YYZ).
