I can't think of any airline anywhere in the world that delays the meal service. Generally speaking people want to eat after take off and then haev time to sleep, work, relax, etc. Travel messes with peopl'e schedules and often leaves them hungry at odds times.

That said, I don't think a traditional breakfast should be served on departures after 9 a.m. A brunch (like quiche and fruit perhaps?) on departures between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. would be nice. But serving cereal as an option on a 9:50 a.m. departure is admittedly silly. The worst are the ex-LAX transcons that leave at nearly 10 a.m., land at JFK after 6 p.m. and serve breakfast??
