I've been very happy with my DVC membership, which I purchased in 2000. If you love vacationing at Disney World, plan to go at least once every two years and like staying at the deluxe resorts on property, then it's a good deal. If you want to try to use it for swapping to stay elsewhere, cruises, etc. you'd be better off paying cash. If I was going to purchase additional points, I would probably buy resale.
