Yes, I had heard this.

Very sad. Their C.S. was one of their hallmarks. I got a gal with a heavy accent last time I called and I could barely understand her.

I had the opposite in my primary residence. Verizon did not work. Maybe 1/2 a bar. Dropped calls constantly. Sprint had full bars - even in my basement, but I wanted UMA so I could use WiFi when traveling overseas with no charge. At that time, I needed a GSM phone for Europe as well, and Sprint was CDMA only back then. So I switched to T-Mo many years ago because of UMA. It works so sweet, I'd never switch to anyone else. You just can't beat unlimited calls on UMA and being able to call the USA from Paris or Madrid on UMA for no additional charge. I love it.
I do agree, Verizon, on the whole, has excellent coverage nationwide. Just not at my primary residence.
