Question 1K/*G + GM/*S companion = how many bags?

I've been trying to decipher the number of bags allowed for the companion (GM or Silver) of a Gold/Platinum/1K on the same PNR. On the old UA website, it said that 1 companion (or more) on the same PNR would be allowed up to 2 50 lb bags (while the Gold+ could have 3 70 lb bags). On the new website, this is not as clear. On the exemption webpage, it states that:

"Customers traveling with MileagePlus Premier members or dependents traveling with active U.S. military personnel are also exempt as long as they are traveling in the same reservation. This exemption will not apply to group reservations including 10 or more customers."

This could be interpreted to mean that PNR companions get the same rules as the level of Premier member with whom they are traveling, or 3 70 lb bags per person. (I would like to interpret it this way!) Any thoughts or experiences with this?
