Yes, I'd agree that extra Tier Points would be the main reason for doing this.

Otherwise, £69 on such a short flight - I guess it's just about marginal. If there are 2 of you that's £138.....

PS you are not restricted to one glass of Champagne. With a cooperative crew, you can have as many drinks as you like within the ~50 minutes in flight
