Agreed, it's a lot cheaper to buy the miles from Amex MR. Better yet, just loan yourself the miles. I assume it works the same in Canada as here in the US (that you can loan yourself up to 15K miles for a Green/Gold and 60K for a Platinum so long as you re-pay them within the first year, otherwise they will bill you 2.5cpm).
No loaning MR in Canada. I asked about this.
