As noted above, Malaysia Airlines is a SkyMiles partner carrier although not SkyTeam. Award searches in coach are supported by ExpertFlyer. Routing could be:

LAX-KUL (stop in Tokyo)
KUL-HAN or KUL-SGN

ExpertFlyer shows dates in December 2012 with 4+ coach award seats available LAX-HAN.

You could also fly:

LAX-Tokyo on Malaysian Airlines (overnight Tokyo as a connection, not stopover)
continue NRT-HAN or NRT-SGN on Vietnam Airlines

Current pricing for purchased fares in mid-December LAX-Hanoi round-trip, 7-10 day stays, limited to routings with two connections or less, are priced from $1476+.
