SFO has the most pleasant international terminal in the US. I've never had much of a wait (even prior to my Global Entry) on any int'l arrival @ SFO. It is then a relatively short walk over to T-3 for your domestic departure. SFO, however, is notorious for weather delays, even in seemingly not-horrible weather. Most Int'l longhauls get landing priority and do not suffer much in the arrival delay department. Many domestic shorthauls suffer.

LAX is a pit. However, it isn't a terrible connection.
