There is nothing to suggest a new FT general policy.

One data point does not make a trend.

If this data point was in some way suggestive of a trend or new policy, I think that the moderators would know about it. I can assure you that I have no reason to believe there is a new general policy.

Admittedly I'm going out on a limb somewhat here, but it seems to me that there have been other offers posted on the board since this item came up and to the best of my knowledge no further action was taken.

Clearly, Starwood Lurker made a request. And no doubt because he is so prominent and respected on the whole on these boards, the initial inclination is accomodate a request from him. That doesn't require being on the TalkBoard. It doesn't require a change of policy.

Just speculating, I bet that all of this discussion has been useful both for the FT Administration to have the implications fleshed out and also for Starwood Lurker to see the reaction to making such a request. William may or may not admit it, but I'd bet that he'll be more cautious making such requests in the future.

As far as I'm concerned, as the moderator of two forums, I will not be handling anything differently than I ever have in the past. No change of policy on my end. Unless and until I have a clear request and statement of direction from Randy to the contrary. Frankly I don't expect such a thing to be forthcoming.
