IMHO both gleff and Craig6z could both author best-selling books titled:
"How to properly moderate a Bulletin Board".
Their dignified and classy public response to the events of the last week or so is an absolute object lesson to MANY of their colleagues. And I feel sure was not overlooked by Randy who clearly spent hours reading over every thread in this Forum this week, before locking most of them.
An absolute exemplary performance record over a long time in my view. I have no idea exactly how many threads are locked or moved in Miles Buzz each year, but I have seldom seen one that seemed even vaguely inappropriate, to my eyes anyway.
The total of annual locks or moves in Miles Buzz due to Moderator call would possibly exceed the grand total of threads locked or moved from EVERY other FT Miles board combined. It must be a terribly tough and time consuming Forum to moderate as it is the first board newbies see, and it becomes somewhat of a mass dumping ground.
As to the thread in question - "Is FlyerTalk as exciting as it was 3-4 years ago?" I cannot believe for one minute it EVER remotely belonged in Miles Buzz, and can't imagine why anyone would start a thread suggesting it did. OMNI does seem exactly the place for it IMHO.
gleff's action in locking it and his post explaining it, appear to be 100% textbook to me.
Quite a nice change from one Moderator in Flyertalk Community who appears so lazy s(he) simply deletes threads without trace or comment.
