Question on airline policy for issueing a receipt for a refund
I have a question and can not get a straight answer from Delta. So I am hoping someone here can help. My husband travels for his employer so of course all expenses on his credit card have to be documented with a receipt. Recently, he made went to Japan on company business. He took a plane from CLT to DTW which had to be diverted to OH because of bad weather. They ended up refueling there and going back to DTW but it caused him to miss his connecting flight to NGO. So he was rebooked for the next evening. On the original flight he had a seat in Economy Comfort but on the rebooked flight the only thing he could get was Economy. (He just started traveling for his company so he has no miles built up....maybe one day). Anyways, the airline issued a refund for the downgrade in the seat the next day to his company credit card.
So once the charges posted to his credit card statement I called Delta and kindly asked them if they could email him a copy of the refund since he has to submit everything to his employer. They are taking issue with giving him a copy of the refund. What is really making me angry is they tell me to go to the Delta website to get a copy of it. Well, the website doesn't even include the original airline ticket receipts. Which I realize it would only have the economy comfort upgrades because his employer goes through their own travel agency for all tickets. The upgrades are the only thing that goes directly through Delta. In the 2 trips for Japan that have been booked, there should show 4 different transactions for the Ecomony Comfort seats (2 seats going over and 2 coming back) but yet I can only bring up 1 single transaction when I go online.
I have called them numerous times over the past 3 days and only 1 lady that I have spoken with has actually been able to help me but she could see the receipt on her end but couldn't send it to me. I guess it hadn't fully posted. She said to call back in 2 days and they could email it to me. I called today and now I am told they don't give receipts for refunds. Today the woman kept emailing the original receipt when we purchased the upgrade. I am getting so angry!!!! But here is the kicker.....I go online yesterday to look at my husbands company credit card transactions to work on his expense report and they have refunded a 2nd economy comfort fee to his card!! I really don't know what the airline is doing!!! I don't think they do either. He is still in Japan, scheduled to come home next week, I verified that his seat choice hasn't changed and it hasn't, he is still in the economy comfort section. So who knows.
Any ideas on how to get that receipt for the refund....or do I just keep calling them? And hope sooner or later someone knows what they are doing? Or is it really their policy not to give you a receipt for a refund? That just seems so strange especially for business travelers who have to document everything.
