Hope this is the right forum to post. In mid March, last month, I got downgraded from Platinum to Gold due to lack of stays in 2011. I called SPG and asked if I can have fast track/Platinum Challenge back to Platinum.
The first person I spoke - Person A, said, NO problem as long as I can achive 18 paid nights within 3 months (till end of June 2012), I'll get my platinum status back. So she registered me and I got email conformation from SPG.
Just to be sure on her information, the next day, I called and spoke with someone else - Person B.. To my surprise, person B said, I can NOT have a Platinum Challenge because I was Platinum last year. The only way to get back to Platinum is to follow the Gold to Platinum route which requires 25 stays or 50 nights.
Which information is correct? I want to make sure that I plan my stays this year with the correct info.
Note: I have been Platinum except my first year and not clear about Platinum Challenge rules. Any feedback and information are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I suspect the second agent is right, but since the first agent signed you up for the Plat Challenge and it was confirmed by email, SPG might give it to you if you get lucky. My understanding is that the rules say that if you have ever been Plat, you are not eligible for the Plat challenge.
If you've been Plat from the beginning, how close are you to lifetime Plat? That could well come sooner than requalifying for Plat this year if you have enough nights.
You should let us know what happens.
