If you have an AA flight soon, you can purchase a drink or crackers on the aircraft and it will trigger the credit.
Or, purchase something small from the AA store. Or, purchase an AA Giftcard ($50 minimum) from the AA store.
From reports, the Amex seems to have some issues with triggering the credit. I didn't get the Amex for this deal, so I don't have any first hand knowledge.
