On 1/17/12 I cancelled 2 award tickets totaling 270,000 miles. Within a few days, the taxes were credited back to my credit card. I still have not received the miles back. I have emailed Mileage Plus, refunds and have called. When I call I am told to use the website. Each email tells me I will have a response in 7-10 days. I never get one. When I check the refund status page, 1 ticket says pending review and the other says to call 800-wecare2. When I call I just get the runaround from the robot. If I get a human, it's reservations who then tells me to use the website. I am beyond frustrated. Any suggestions? TIA.
They tend to keep the miles associated with the cancelled PNR assuming you'll use them to get a new award, which can be done online - which works unless you want to ticket the new award for anyone other than the prior awardee. Try calling and telling them "I cancelled a ticket online and I need to have it
queued up to have the miles refunded". This seems to do the trick for me. When I last tried 2 weeks ago, they were back in my account before the end of the call. Of course, there's a fee involved unless you're plat/1K/GS.
