I totally agree, nothing would be worse than sitting next to a person who is spilling over into your "rented" space. As for the bleeding hearts go with the body weight plus baggage as an option. If all airlines go this way then there is no choice, it just has to be done. The law suit has already been lost in the US, you must pay for 2 seats if you require 2 seats. I was on a flight some years ago with Lou Ferigno, in first class which at the time was not pod seating, and he had to buy 2 seats, which he gladly did.
