Here is my problem I have no problem taking a NYC taxi home after landing at LGA or JFK, but I can't stand waiting in long taxi lines, which makes ordering a car very compelling. While the price of dial 7 and Carmel or reasonable my big issue with them is you still end up waiting for 10-15 min once you get to the airport. This can be quite painful, especially after a long flight or when you look over and see an empty taxi line. However when you do land, get outside and see a huge line for taxis the dial 7's of the world never have any cars available.
I'm also refocusing this rant on leisure travelers because yes, Carey, Farrell ( or any other place charging by time from the garage)etc are the obvious alternatives but at $150+ one way they only really make sense when it's on the expense account.
Does anyone offer a car service that is sub $100 where the car will be waiting at the airport and is not a complete mess?
Just arrange to have the driver meet you at baggage claim. Even if you don't have checked bags, he's there, walks with you to the car and you're off. Costs a hunk more and you pay wait time from the
scheduled arrival, so delays can get very costly.
