I know this isn't what you meant, but if you're willing to make a connection, and you want to fly *A, I would fly US LHR-PHL on their A330-200, which probably has the best J seat of any U.S. carrier currently (yes, US, pretty incredibly).
When you get to Philly, either you take the horrible puddle jumper to EWR or LGA, or...you take Amtrak into Penn Station (which would probably be quicker than flying from PHL to NYC).
