Thanks for the lead, I also loved the thread. What comes ot mind is perhaps an annual affair whereby we have members submit a number of threads for consideration of "Post of the Year" and "Thread of the Year." We'd then have membes cast votes for these honors and award some distinction. The idea is to give honor and attention to posts and threads that most members will have likely missed. I know that without this lead, I would not have stumbled upon this trip report by GoldFlyer. Again, thanks for the lead to read.</font>
No problems, and thanks for the thoughts.
I think that your idea actually has a lot of merit - there are a number of threads which I have inadvertently stumbled across which I have found extremely amusing/educational/entertaining/whatever, and which are located in fora I may only occasionally wander into. Of course, the problem with only occasionally wandering into a forum is that you miss a lot of stuff, hence you miss the good stuff.
I think your idea has merit, and I think a good way of working it would be to bring on an advisory panel (which I would love to be on, btw!!!!) which would accept nominations as to which posts should be put to the vote, and then come up with a final list. The vote would then be open to all FT members as to "Post of the Year", "Thread of the Year" and so on.
It would be just another aspect of the "community" that is FT.
Cheers,
Dave
