Yes, you are missing a lot. St Lucia and Grenada have no particular crime problem period. Of course they have crime like any area here in the United States. And yes they are more difficult to reach but that said, my old rule is that the more difficult a destination is to reach the more beautiful and unspoiled it is.

With regard to Jamaica, yes Kingston has some of the most crime of anywhere in the Caribbean. But Montego Bay, Negril, and Ocho Rios have no particular problem. Because of geography, those resort destinations are a world away from the problems of Kingston. Sort of like saying would you not visit Palm Springs or Rancho Mirage in Southern California becuase of the less desirable parts of Los Angeles ?

With regard to Punta Cana in the Domnican Republic, great for cookie cutter all inclusive resorts on some pretty spectacular beach, but beyond that nothing much to see or do there if you are looking for more than just sitting on the beach 8 hours a day
