I hope you'll forgive me if I don't go along with your wish to equate Punki's opinion with common sense?
I venture to say that if you added up the posted coupon/upgrade posts in ALL the forums that you would have an overwhelming number (perhaps hundreds a day--it is already dozens a day) in Coupon Connection.
I venture to say that the UA forum already has hundreds of threads. It looks like 24 from this morning already. Keeping coupon ones in there hardly makes them 'easy' to find.
Trolling through hundreds of posts a day to look for coupons is NOT user friendly when the INTUITIVE thing is to look in those fora that you regularly visit.
Forget intuitive, is it
enabling??? FT has, for quite some time, reached a point where using the search engine is a necessity if you're looking for information. Keeping a lot of posts in one forum can't change that.
The description of The Coupon Connection is:
"The exchange forum for legally transferable coupons issued by various frequent traveler programs." UA's is: "Discussion regarding United Mileage Plus." But you think the intuitive place to look for coupons is the UA forum?!?
As I said, I think this should be a poster specific thing. If a poster feels that he wants to appeal to his audience on a particular forum, let it be.
A million posts, thousands of members and posting guidelines should be up to the whims of individual posters?
If the interpretation of the moderators continues to be enforced
I can think of worse fates for FT than having the interpretations of Randy-appointed moderators implementing Randy-set guidelines developed in part by Randy and FT-membership selected members being enforced.
then many will probably start a thread in the appropriate airline/car rental/hotel forum saying. "I just posted free upgrades at XXXXX in Coupon Connection" so it won't reduce the number of posts, it will increase them AND the workload of moderators
There should be no rules because people won't follow them? Talk to the hand.
