With regards to NJUPINTHEAIR - while I do not have a beef with you directly, I do see how your posts in CO stirred up a lot of anger in other people. My advice to you was "your thoughts might be valid, but the manner it was communicated may be considered trolling." Apparently that didn't get through to you.
You're a lawyer, probably a very smart one at that. Recognize when you're losing a battle, and call it quits and let those who need to vent - vent. What's the harm to you?

UAL,
Well you seem to be a fairly reasonable individual notwithstanding the fact that you and I may not agree on the original purpose of my thread.
That said, I think that if you read my statements therein, I took pains to explain that I had not wanted to minimize the anger and angst of those that were experiencing the discomfort from the changes, but that I was upset that those who dared to swim against the flow, so to speak, were reviled by some in the worst of terms
and that I thought all the handwringing was becoming counterproductive.
Having said that, you noted that those individuals needed to vent, and if you notice, I did not disagree with your perceptions or conclusions, and I did not hinder or minimize in any way anyone who henceforth stated that they wished to do that.
Far from that, for I went on to explain in my subsequent posts in that thread, that allowance should be made to the individual who lost his head and posted quite a derogatory response to my initial post, only to see it erased by one of the moderators. Did I continue to deride that individual once he explained the effect that it had on him or the reasons that he gave for writing that statement?? -- No. In fact, I pointed out that he had since offered an apology of sorts for that and I moved on. Re-read it if you don't believe me, for the thread is locked down and I have no way of altering it.
However, if one were to re-read that thread in its entirety, one will doubtless see that the two individuals who, to use your term charitably, were
venting, are not even current CO fliers!!! Therefore, I think that you should re-examine just who it was who could be termed to have been "trolling," for even that was not
my intention, it certainly cannot be said that that was not the intention of the individual who repeatedly crossed the line.
Indeed, when questioned by current CO fliers, my response to them was anything but confrontational or derogatory; rather, I again invite you to re-read my posts to that entire thread and see if what I am saying is accurate or not, for as I have said, I have no way to alter my statements now.
On the other hand, I do find it interesting that even you find it difficult to direct any comments towards the main culprit for the reason that the thread veered off its axis and became a mean spirited personal attack on another FTer. That you do not direct an aside in your thread to that individual speaks volumes, IMHO.
Finally, for the record, as my transmittal letter to Randy and XXYZZZ, as well as the date and time stamps of my e-mails make clear, I hardly everh have requested their intervention in such matters, for unlike JonNYC, I generally do not run afoul of other FTers. Moreover, I brought this not only to the attention to Randy -- who may have been busy -- but to one of the moderators of the forum, who incidentally was the individual who locked down the thread, for the very reason that Randy may have been busy with other things. I at least expected some form of acknowledgement from that individual within 24 hours that my complaint had been received, especially since in that time frame, he was able to continue to post his thoughts on a number of subjects on this Bulletin Board.
Therefore, some of your observations are either inaccurate or just plain wrong in a number of key areas and it, IMHO, unfortunately fails as a dispassionate recitation of the background events to this current dispute.
Apirchik:
I am neither a skilled nor accurate typist (as I thought my posts had demonstrated) and I therefore meant you no disrespect with regard to your name. Period.
With regard to your request, although I recoil at the idea that I should be the individual in the dock, and that you should be my judge, especially since you still fail to take others to task for what are blatant and repeated violations of the FT TOS, nevetheless, I shall be happy to oblige you in your request.
Please recall that I often state in the first of the locked down threads, that I had wished for the CO community to overcome their recriminations and get back to what I believe is the true purpose behind the need and success that is FT -- that it serves as a mechanism for its members to share information for the betterment of all as well as its use as a laboratory whereby ideas can be cross pollinated to the great effect and advantage of all, as well.
As I have noted above, it is there in black and white for all to read, as it is in the first locked down thread. So too, is my comment concerning that even a lowly non-elite in CO might actually have something beneficial to contribute to those who are more seasoned travellers on that airline.
Re-read my posts again, for I hesitated to reveal the method whereby a flier
under next year's new rules might be able to turn a current and available "flight" to his/her advantage.
I initially spoke somewhat obliquely for I was well aware that CO lurkers are ever present and I did not wish to see this particular methode whereby one may be able to substantially increase the number of segments they would be able to earn for a somewhat small cost in terms of time, as well as $$, be withdrawan, especially in the context of next year's changes and the withdrawal of segment credit altogether on budget fares.
However, I was forced to divulge that method, and I clearly spelled it out here:

To demonstrate to all, that even a non-elite may have stolen a march on some of you more seasoned and blessed elites, I will reveal a fairly easy, and inexpensive way for one to top off one's status with segments next year under the OnePass program, despite my earlier inclination not to do so for fear of CO lurkers changing this "flight."
But, since many seem to think that non-elites have nothing to contribute, well this will prove them wrong and if CO subsequently decides to reclassify this run, the change will be on the heads of you, JON NYC and others like you. It is ironic how those who no longer fly CO, or never did, have manipulated things to the potential detriment of CO flyers, but c'est la vie, many CO flyers have not bothered to use their voices to denounce the mean spirited attacks by NJ David and his brood, above.
In any event, back to business, when on takes the EWR-ABE bus/flight one generally obtains a Y class fare which will earn under the new rule, 2 points towards segment requalification, and that would amount to 4 segments for approx $165 R/T. That is a rather painless way to earn 4 segments in 1 afternoon, requiring little dislocation to do so.
I hope you are proud of yourself Jon NYC.
Now, one may ask what type of reception did I receive for my little "
contribution" if you will, for the general betterment of the CO community?
Well, you should know, for it was not long in coming, although, as always, the response to my contribution did not emanate from anyone who
currently flies CO, or anyone who has indicated that there is even the slightest chance that they intend to fly on CO next year when the new changes are effective.
NJDavid's immediate comment went like this:

You know, you just don't get it, do you? You must work for CO or at least want to or should, because all you see is a bunch of greedy, undeserving "schmucks" out to get undeserved benefits.
I and the majority here I believe have no desire to spend our free time on a bus to nowhere, just to scam the system.
Of course, his were marginally irritating, but it was the individual who you found to be the least problematic of the bunch of us, who, once again, provided a most warm and welcome reception with respect to my "sharing" information with the FT community:
JonNYC
In addition, there was my following observation about the CO and NW FF programs that, surprisingly, given the above reception that I received, has yet to be contradicted or attacked by anyone:

By the way, no one has pointed this out before so I will do so. Many have mentioned that CO's actions are an attempt to harmonize its program with that of Delta's and from where I sit, there is evident sense behind this statement. But no one has pointed out that CO's action vis a vis segments also harmonizes -- at least for those Y class and above travelers -- a salient feature with NW's WorldPerks program. Right now, WorldPerks offers Elite status in the following manner -- 20/40/60 segments -- while CO's (and most everyone elses) is 30/60/90. By rewarding the high roller/last minute traveler with the 2 points per segment bonus, CO brings its program vis a vis segments more into line with NW's generous one with respect to segments, so it may not make a difference which airline you choose to align your loyalty towards.
As any good attorney, I will not rest my case just yet, for if you require any additional evidence of my having contributed to the general good of the community, I invite you to search the Marriott and Hyatt threads, where I most often post, to see just what type of community member I am.
Finally, one also can look within the first locked down thread for a clue as to the type of individual that I am, for I made this comment that you evidently overlooked:

Inasmuch as I don't travel that much on business, I have spent my time maximizing my time on my status in the various hotel programs. It is far easier to earn status in those programs as you can stay at a hotel, but need not fly there to qualify -- driving from one's home will do just fine!
If you need any tips on Marriott or Hyatt, I would be glad to offer you some assistance.
