I travel hundreds of international flights a year and do so primarily without any printout of an eticket/itinerary. The major exception for my travels are for flights from India. I don't recall having a printout for any of my flights to India in quite some years, primarily because my departure dates from India are rarely set in stone at the time of my entry into India. The electronic version has otherwise generally sufficed for my travels and been more reliable for presentation than ink on paper. For departure out of the country, DEL no longer functions for me like it used to with electronic versions, and this having to access a printer is an inconvenience.
